Blues Review
Reviewer: Jim Bale Show: The
Rick Derringer Band Place: The Coach House, SJC,
Ca. Date: Friday, March 24, 2006
I would like to offer my revue of the Night
Creatures show at the Coach House on March 24th
when they opened for Rick Derringer. Let me just
sum it up for anyone that wasn't there that
night, The Night Creatures ROCKED THE COACH
HOUSE!
Robert "Chalo" Ortiz was
absolutely amazing. I didn't realize until after
the first song that I was sitting next to
Roberts father. He was beaming with pride while
he watched his boy shred
on that guitar.
It reminded me of my Dad
being so proud of me when I hit a home run in
Little League. Well, "Chalo" and the rest of the
Night Creatures hit a home run on that night.
After each song, people sitting near Robert's
father was patting him on the back and high-fiving
him.
I liked Steiger's band as
well as Rick Derringer but I expected them to be
good. I had not heard of the Night Creatures
before this night and came away very impressed.
I am not sure how old "Chalo"
is but I know that he is still young. I can't
wait to hear more of him as he gets better and
better with age. I can't wait to see this band
again. I just joined the mailing list and
hopefully will catch them again soon. I know
that the more they play the more the more often
they will be booked for gigs. I am sure that we
will be seeing the Night Creatures at Blues
Festivals and Concerts as well asrecording CD's
in the future.
